This past Saturday, April 3rd, Cocoon London brought out German techno guru Sven Väth and sexy house expert Loco Dice to London’s Matter at O2 Arena. Located in North Greenwich east London with a capacity of five thousand people and an exquisite lighting and sound system, Matter has become one of the trendiest venues in the city. This was Matter’s fifth Cocoon party – the place was jam-packed, swarming with local and international scenesters, all drunk on Cocoon‘s bangin‘ signature sound. Ilario Alicante and Markus Fix, also of the Cocoon roster, rocked room two of Matter, providing the proper ear candy necessary toplease the tech-house crazed audience.

Ibiza is the Electronic music capital of the world. Cocoon has informed us that they will be back in Ibiza for their 11th session. After wrapping up last years 10th anniversary session, which was very successful. Cocoon had an amazing 10th anniversary closing party which we got to experience first hand. The closing party had the great Sven Vath and Loco Dice close off the Main room and the terrace was closed off by Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano and Perlons boss Zip. This year they are coming at us with a new theme. The theme is called “The Party Animals.” For Sven Vath it sure is easy to claim a name like that. Cocoon Amnesia is going to be like a Zoo every Monday night in Ibiza. No set line-up’s have been announced yet but if you visit “The Party Animals Site” where you can stay up to date.

Sven Väth is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Cocoon Parties at Club Amnesia in Ibiza by releasing a Documentary DVD as well as a new mix album that marks the end of the Ibiza season. Featured on the double CD, the tenth in the Sound of the Season series, will be not only the highlights of 2009’s clublife, but also a glimpse of what’s to come next year and beyond. What’s great about the album is that it highlights emerging artists – a whole new generation of visionaries instead of the top producers we all already know. Väth is the perfect person to introduce them since he just won the Ibiza DJ award as best DJ as well as the award for the best set of the summer with his back to back set with Luciano. For some of you this might be old news – Sven Vath’s Cocoon parties at Amnesia officially closed last month on September 28th, 2009. Celebrating their ten year anniversary in style Cocoon invited their closest friends Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano & Zip to play a very special set for the Ibiza audience. New images have surfaced of the event and include pictures of the amazing crowd that gathers for this special occasion. For those of you that missed out will be forced to wait next year for the Cocoon parties to begin again.

Cocoon records introduced their latest outdoor festival during this past weekend entitled Green and Blue. The festival was jam packed with some of the best performers in techno today. The lineup included Cocoon label boss Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos, Reboot, Marco Carola, SIS, Radioslave, Cassy & many more. The outdoor festival was a complete hit with over 10,000 people attending. Photographer Axel Gross took some great images of the event that can be seen after the post.

Green & Blue Open Air Festival Germany has just been announced along with it’s amazing line up, which is composed with well versed mix of veterans whole will play alongside a new generation of tech house producers. Headlining this major festival will be Cocoon’s label head Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos, Radio Slave, Marco Carola, Sensitiva (Tobi Neumann & Onur Ozer), Swayzak, Reboot, Matt Tolfrey, Jacek Sienkiewicz, Cassy, Motorcitysoul, SIS, Chris Tietjen and Alex Azary. This allstar cast of DJ’s will surely play some of the best minimal techno and tech house tracks of 2009.

British electronic group Underworld is scheduled to headline a historic performance during Cocoon’s night in Amnesia, Ibiza on August 28th. This highly anticipated performance will be a “day+night” event, which is best described as a 12-hour bass thumping night of Techno music. Sven Vath is scheduled to play along side Karl Hyde and Rick Smith (Underworld). This is the first time Underworld is playing in Ibiza since 2000. Stay tuned for event photos.
