Designer Igor Chak drew his inspiration from the hit film Space Invaders. The couch looks incredible in black and white. It would look perfect in a modern television room or be a unique focal piece in a bachelor pad. The Space Invader couch is made completely out of leather and has two glass surfaces on the arm rests perfect for an area to rest your drink. Chak is a young talented designer that currently resides Los Angeles but has taken jobs all around the country. He was born in the far eastern city of Vladivostok. It is easy to tell from Chak’s design philosophy just how invested he is in creating beautiful pieces: I believe in a well developed design that has a story, with history and passion to it. A design that is simple, clean and user friendly but most of all, in case of transportation design it has to be safe and affordable.” This Space Invader couch definitely has an interesting story but also is clean and user friendly.

From June 27th to July 25th, French artist Space Invader will have a solo exhibition called “Top Io” at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York. Invader’s medium of choice is especially unique as he uses Rubik’s Cube’s to create his compositions. The movement is coined Rubikcubism and the results are brightly colored pixilated images that range from pop culture icons (the phantom from Pac-Man) to Baroque masterpieces (Jean Auguste Dominique Ingre’s La Grande Odalisque). His most recent work, which will be included in the exhibition, are album covers that include The Beatles’ Abbey Road and The Clash’s London Calling.
