At Samsung’s press conference in Barcelona, the company has previewed the debut of the first Mobile World Congress’ smartphone – the Wave (S8500). It’s the first handset to ship with Bluetooth 3.0, and also features 802.11n WiFi, TouchWiz 3.0, a Bada platform, a 3.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a 800 x 480 resolution, a 1GHz processor, 5-MP camera, aGPS, accelerometer, 2GB or 8GB of internal storage space, a micro DC expansion slot, multi-codec support for DivX, XviD, MP3 and WMV, and support for virtual 5.1 surround sound and 720p recording / decoding. Another huge plus? Samsung has also including their mDNIe technology, which is used in their LCD and LED TV products for ultimate multimedia viewing. The only downside? No multitouch on this device. The Wave will be available in April – pricing details yet to be announced.
