Resident Advisor recently interviewed Ricardo Villalobos before his appearance at Movement Torino later on during the month. As one of the most inventive producers and biggest DJs, Villalobos is always mentioned for his passion for sound, and not his press or behavior. In the interview he talks about his plans to transition out of dance music within the next ten years and focus on his other interests – jazz and soundtracks. Fabric celebrated their 10th Anniversary Weekend in style by inviting some of the best names in electronic music. Some of the DJ’s taking part in the festivities were Pokerflat label boss Steve Bug, European legend Ricardo Villalobos, Craig Richards, Daniel Bell and many more! The special night took place at Frabric’s amazing nightclub located in London. The party was jam packed with patrons from all over Europe and the music did not fall short of anyones expectations. For some of you this might be old news – Sven Vath’s Cocoon parties at Amnesia officially closed last month on September 28th, 2009. Celebrating their ten year anniversary in style Cocoon invited their closest friends Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano & Zip to play a very special set for the Ibiza audience. New images have surfaced of the event and include pictures of the amazing crowd that gathers for this special occasion. For those of you that missed out will be forced to wait next year for the Cocoon parties to begin again.

Cocoon records introduced their latest outdoor festival during this past weekend entitled Green and Blue. The festival was jam packed with some of the best performers in techno today. The lineup included Cocoon label boss Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos, Reboot, Marco Carola, SIS, Radioslave, Cassy & many more. The outdoor festival was a complete hit with over 10,000 people attending. Photographer Axel Gross took some great images of the event that can be seen after the post.

Producer and DJ Ricardo Villalobos will be the subject of Romuald Karmakar’s upcoming documentary, based around the Chilean bred tech house counselor. Ricardo Villalobos has been a central figure in the electronic music scene during the past decade. Releasing some major tracks under labels Cocoon, Cadenza and Perlon, has allowed Villalobos to take center stage in the worlds top electronic music clubs. He has played festivals like Time Warp, Mysteryland, Sonar, Mutek and many more notable global gatherings. His long resume proves to be one of the best in the business, and this documentary will bring us closer to the mystery man that refuses to play in the USA. Hopefully one day he gives in! Filmmaker Romuald Karmakar captures some of the bright moments of Villalobos’ career and packages them into this documentary, which is scheduled to make it’s premiere at the 66th Venice International Film Festival on September 12th, 2009.

Green & Blue Open Air Festival Germany has just been announced along with it’s amazing line up, which is composed with well versed mix of veterans whole will play alongside a new generation of tech house producers. Headlining this major festival will be Cocoon’s label head Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos, Radio Slave, Marco Carola, Sensitiva (Tobi Neumann & Onur Ozer), Swayzak, Reboot, Matt Tolfrey, Jacek Sienkiewicz, Cassy, Motorcitysoul, SIS, Chris Tietjen and Alex Azary. This allstar cast of DJ’s will surely play some of the best minimal techno and tech house tracks of 2009.
