On Saturday May 22nd Vakant vs. Dumb Unit are making their US Debut for a pre-DEMF label showcase event brought to you by ReSolute. Dumb Unit’s Jeremy P. Caulfield will be playing alongside Elon, Vakant’s Alex Smoke will be playing with Dario Zenker.

Label chief Jeremy P. Caulfield of Toronto, Canada has been spinning for about fifteen years. In 2000 he started up the Dumb Unit label which has charted releases by artists Elon, Exercise One, Lee Curtiss, Butane and Seph, to name a few. While living in New York, Elon has been a resident DJ of ReSolute as well as Sullivan Room.

Vakant was founded in Germany in 2004, dedicated to the development of minimal music. The name refers to the negative space in music, the silence between sounds. Here to represent Vakant is Alex Smoke of Scotland who is known for fusing the sounds of Detroit techno and contemporary European minimal, with no inhibitions about mixing the old with the new. Germany’s Dario Zenker is an important contributor to the Vakant label – he will bring some of its minimal flavour to New York this Saturday. RSVP to resolutenyc@gmail.com for more information.

blk market membership resolute vs 0slo monkey maffia-federico molinari

Clear your daytime schedule and nick your calendars for Saturday, April 24th. To kick off the spring and honor the upcoming sunshine, Blkmarket and ReSolute present Monkey Mafia of the Wighnomy Brothers who will be playing an extended set alongside Federico Molinari (Oslo Records), Vera (Oslo Records), Maher Daniel (Souvenir Plus), and of course, Taimur & Fahad (Blkmarket). Here to represent ½ of the Wighnomy Brothers act, Sören Bodner aka Monkey Maffia of East Germany, will deliver an eclectic symphony of synth-heavy techno complemented by overtones of deep-house. You can expect Germany’s Federico Molinari to bring a fun, kick-snare based tech-house, often supplemented by excursions of rhythmic percussion. Often collaborating with Molinari, Vera of Heidelberg, Germany, has made a global mark as a DJ and producer on the electronic music scene, putting forward exquisite nuances that skate the line between deep house and techno. Canada’s Maher Daniel will come bearing an edgy, bass-heavy yet melodic style to Blkmarket, and with his youthful energy, he’ll undoubtedly kick the party off right with his opening set. A great event lies ahead, so be sure to catch it.

Eccentric electro-pop act Nôze ventured from their hometown, Paris, to New York City last night to play a show at Hiro Ballroom. The dynamic duo were full of energy, playing off the lively spirit of their dance-crazed audience. Their set was packed with whimsical synth loops played live on their mighty Moog Voyager, accompanied by intermittent jazzy piano samples and rock-style guitar riffs. Between sips of champagne, the two animated Parisians gave a live vocal performance of tracks including “You Have to Dance” and “Love Affair.”

resolute-2nd-anniversary-mirko-loko-alexi-delano-01

November 21st marked a very special occasion, set in the compounds of Brooklyn was a celebration of New York City’s techno phenoms ReSolute 2nd anniversary party. For those of you that have never attended a ReSolute event are probably oblivious to the importance of this epic occasion. ReSolute invited some of their closest friends and Europe’s favorite DJ’s to spin techno records for 12 hours straight. Before the special event kicked off, ReSolute hosted a screening of the Techno documentary “Speaking in Code.” The film delves into the lifestyle behind many of the DJ’s playing electronic music and the hardships the film makers tackle during their process of producing the movie. Shortly after the screening was wrapped up, the music kicked in and the partying got underway. The bass began to erupt below our feet as K.atou strapped himself in behind the turntables. Following his appearance was Connie, who takes a lot of pride in playing some of the best tracks currently available. She played a new Gradient favorite Radioslaves remix of Cassius’ – Youth, Speed, Trouble, Cigarettes. Following her great set was Alland Byallo, Alexai Delano and headlining the night was Cadenza’s Mirko Loko. Check out some of the pictures and videos from the event after the post.
