Format Magazine got a chance to sit down with photographer Tod Seelie and ask him a number of questions about his work and his creative process. Seelie is currently based in New York City but was born in Ohio and has traveled all over the world to capture his images. He takes the writer’s wisdom “write what you know” and applies it to his photographic philosophy, shooting his life through the lives of his friends. To read the whole interview, click here.

UK based Gary Salter is a photographer with a strange, but great sense of humor. Mix color, sensuality, and drama and you have Bruno Dayan’s portfolio. The French fashion photographer has a beautiful way of working with light that produces a variety of soft, ambient colors. He also embellishes glare and light spots to his advantage to create a signature aesthetic. He has photographed for Louis Vuitton, Moschino, Yves Saint Laurent and a ton of other A list clients.

Photographer Angus Rowe MacPherson creates a new world with his work that contains different rules than the ones that apply to us. Defying gravity, motion, and conventional norms, he constructs his images with elaborate environments and interesting situations. Based in Toronto since 2004, MacPherson has been commissioned for tons of advertising,for clients like Hyundai, Wrigley, and Scotiabank.

We were recently emailed by Ivan Cazzola who introduced us to his great portrait images. His work which is subjected to photography and focuses on portraits of friends and things that he finds interesting. “With his shots he has explored different worlds, from the closer and autobiographical reality of friend’s shots to models, artists, rock bands, cinema stars, gipsys and gangastars, posh ladyes, whores and transexuals.” Ivan has been able to explore different avenues of the fashion world by shooting for publications based in New York, London and Italy.

Taking beauty photography to the next level is visionary artist Iain Crawford. Each image he produces is full of amazing use of colors and lighting. Iain’s objective is to create beautiful images utilizing very simplistic backgrounds and focusing in on the subject at hand. In this set of images, Crawford composes a set that consists of a model being splashed by solid colored paints. More images can be seen after the post.

Chris Anthony is an internationally recognized photographer who was awarded the 2007 Grand Prize in American Photo’s Images of the Year Competition for his “Victims & Avengers” series, which was shown in its entirety for the first time at Corey Helford Gallery in January 2007. He has worked on commercial projects for numerous clients, including Sony Playstation 3 and “The Black Parade” for My Chemical Romance. Anthony’s work has been featured in gallery exhibitions in Los Angeles, Stockholm, Washington D.C., London, Bath and San Francisco. Publications that have featured Chris Anthony and his work include the Los Angeles Times, Photo District News, Eyemazing, Art News, American Photo, Paper, Nylon, Black Book, Juxtapoz, Zoom, Angeleno, Corrierra della Serra and LA Weekly. Born and raised in Stockholm, Anthony also lived and studied in Florence. In his teens, he worked as a rock photographer and went on to direct music videos and commercials. He currently lives in Los Angeles.

We recently stumbled upon some very inspirational work by Italian photographer Luca Dinosaur Campri. His vision and artistic talent combines different types of photographic settings and concepts. Nature and the human evil are some of the subjects Campri focuses on. Campri is inspired by NYC downtown street photographers Dash Snow and Ryan McGinley.
