Back in 1997, Raven and Sonik went to Sao Paulo, Brazil for 12ozProphet’s then-upcoming sixth issue. They hooked up with Os Gemeos, as well as Nina, Vitche and Herbert Baglione, who each gave them insight into the “otherworldly” graffiti scene down south. The video footage taken was thought to be lost since then, and was recently rediscovered and posted on the magazine’s website. The “collision of poverty and wealth” is apparent in the landscape of Sao Paulo, and the footage, although nostalgic, shows how the art movement has yet to catch up in our neighboring continent.

Check out this upcoming preview from Arrested Development of a new mural installation being put up during Art Basel in Miami. Located at Deitch Project’s Wynwood Walls, their photographer covered featured artists Futura, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, Kenny Scharf, and photographer Martha Cooper. The huge project is a great collaborative effort that is sure to result in a sick installation. More pictures after the jump.

Brazilian artist OS Gemeos were invited to create a mural production on Houston St, New York City. This piece of work is very special for New York City, considering the cities stride to eliminate graffiti. NYC has completely eliminated the urban art form, New York served as a birthplace for the movement and culture that was developed around graffiti. While many can argue OS Gemeos is not graffiti art, it is a sub form that was born through the culture. Nevertheless this is a great contribution to the city’s art community.
