New Posterchild Installations in New York City

Posterchild has set up two new installations in New York City. “Andross” and “Abstract Crystallization” are paper creations taped over a video advertisement above the 23rd street subway station and a sliding advertisement on a bus stop. The light from the images behind it creates a glowing, shifting sensation that seems to give the static sculptures movement. Posterchild says his aim to find “a benevolent, sustainable way to involve myself in our shared public spaces without being arrested or unnoticeable.” He also adds, “I am simply connecting to my surroundings, and in this manner I also reclaim that which has been denied to me.”

OS Gemeos Houston St New York City Production

Brazilian artist OS Gemeos were invited to create a mural production on Houston St, New York City. This piece of work is very special for New York City, considering the cities stride to eliminate graffiti. NYC has completely eliminated the urban art form, New York served as a birthplace for the movement and culture that was developed around graffiti. While many can argue OS Gemeos is not graffiti art, it is a sub form that was born through the culture. Nevertheless this is a great contribution to the city’s art community.
