Richly Hawtin A/W Collection 2010/11

On May 14th, 2009, Producer, DJ, and head of Minus recordings, Richie Hawtin and fashion designer, Isolde Richly presented their fashion label, Richly.Hawtin, at the Apartment store in Berlin-Mitte. This collaboration, born from a chance meeting at Club d’Visionaire in Berlin and their love of Japan’s design and culture, started in earnest in Tokyo in 2008. They sought to use fashion as a physical medium to embody and explore the fleeting, intangible elegance of minimalist music and Japan’s beauty. The clothing succeeds, bringing physicality to the musical ideas that flow from Minus, providing a satisfying source of visible expression for those with an affection for minimal. The fashion line also finds inspiration from Japan, Michael Kenna’s photo book capturing the country’s beauty. Richly’s and Hawtin’s affinity for the quiet stillness found in Japan’s snow covered landscapes, calm seas and trees is seen in the gradients of grey that mark the elegantly stripped down clothing.

Minus Contakt Show In Brixton England September 26th

The good people over at Minus invited us to join them for a very special Contakt Show in Brixton, England. The event was packed with over 6000 people, one of the best electronic music events we have ever experienced. For those of you that are fans of the minimal label Minus, would have been totally blown away by the light show produced by Ali Demirel, and the music played by Minus favorites Richie Hawtin,Magda,Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Gaiser, Heartthrob, JPLS, Ambivalent and Barem. The show was a collective that featured some of the best music currently coming out of Europe. “Mesmerizing visuals perfectly synchronized to the music, and a stage set-up that allows all of the M-nus artists to seamlessly mix together, blurs the line between when one DJ or live act begins, or ends.”
Twitter DJ Application Developed By Minimal Techno Label Minus

Twitter DJ is the latest brainwave from Richie Hawtin, who’s already spent much of his career pioneering new technologies as a DJ, producer and label owner, from the development of Midi enabled DJ mixers such as Allen & Heath’s Xone92 & 3D mixers, to Final Scratch DJ technology. At this year’s Time Warp event Richie built on ideas first explored during 2008’s Contakt tour, testing Traktor Pro with a new background application that allows for real time broadcasting of all tracks played during a DJ set. The new application, developed in-house by Bryan McDade at Hawtin’s Minus label, works as a conduit between Traktor and the online messaging utility Twitter. Minus and Native Instruments worked closely together to optimize the Traktor software for this special use. The Twitter DJ application utilizes feeds from an updated version of Traktor’s standard broadcasting technology to send 30 second updates during Hawtin’s set of what’s currently playing to a designated Twitter account, allowing anyone following the Twitter group to obtain a unique insight into how a DJ builds the atmosphere and dynamics of a set, track by track, and in real time.
