The Keystone Design Union headed by David Gensler and Aerosyn-Lex Mestrovic recently sat down with Complex, to discuss the direction of their collective and how the KDU operates when approaching a project. The KDU prides itself in being ahead of the pack, by utilizing resources that range from graphic designers to branding strategists. Zurich-born, New York based KDU artist Chrissy Angliker creates acrylic portraits using both her brush and by letting gravity manipulate the paint itself. The drip paintings have all very clear and recognizable features and do not get muddy, but create an interesting effect that she creates again and again in her works. While all of her paintings use the same technique, she changes it up by varying the amount of color she uses, the position of the heads, and how naturalistic or caricaturistic the features are. In some, the dripping affect creates a somber, serious affect, while in others, it gives a comical air around the work. Angliker graduated from Pratt in 2006 where she studied Industrial Design.

MWM’s (Matt W. Moore) new series “Parallel Universe” is the culmination of his experiences in Sao Paulo and the inspiration he discovered while absorbing Brazilian culture. He arrived with no art or supplies to prepare for his first South American Solo-Exhibition and the results are paintings created with spray paint that echo the bright colors and geometry of the architecture in Sao Paulo. The designs are so clean and intricate they appear digital, and the optical illusions and non-orientation of the forms will keep viewers mesmerized. The exhibition is being held from June 23rd to July 25th at the Pop Gallery (Rojo) in Sao Paulo.

The Keystone Design Unions president David Gensler announced the relaunch of their newly developed website.
