Friday, April 2nd, JPLS off the roster of Berlin/Canada’s Minus label gave a live performance here in Brooklyn at the Bunker. JPLS is known for his unique style of minimal techno accented by psychedelic undertones. He rocked the back room of Bunker with some good old hard techno. Function of New York who now holds a residency at Berghain also played live in addition to spinning a DJ set. Meanwhile, in the front room, Derek Plaslaiko and DJ Three debuted their new project, Three-D: a collaboration fusing Plaslaiko’s authentic Detroit techno sound with Three’s unique composite of deep house and techno. They spun an eight hour set, exploring the possibilities in combining two distinctively different styles through improvisation.

Minus is going to have a Showcase of artists from their label on a six hour boat ride along the Tikki Beach during Winter Music Conference in Miami. Moonlight on the Tikki is presented by Listed and is taking place Thursday March 25th from 10pm to 4am. Check out Minus’ website for ticket prices and information, but the cost will include a late night snack, a Listed keepsake, and an open bar. M-nus also reminds you that for a long night of minimal music, don’t forget to show off your finest minimal wear.

Minus announced December 1st that the new album from JPLS titled The Depths will hit digital stores the next day. The Depths was released yesterday in physical form and features eight new tracks that mix classic minimal techno with industrial electronic. The follow up to 2007’s Twilite promises to be “a brooding, deep-space opera that needs to be experienced in its epic entirety before individual aspects can be extracted to exploit their dance floor potential.”

Minimal Techno label M-Nus has spearheaded electronic music culture by developing a sound made familiar by the labels consistent efforts in exposing this type of genre. Headed by one of technos pioneers Richie Hawtin, M-Nus has become a household name in Barcelona, Amsterdam, Berlin and Tokyo. By developing a new and unique sound, the label has been able to stand out from the rest.
