When Alexander McQueen committed suicide in February of 2010 the fashion industry lost one of the most talented designers in the world. Luckily the Alexander McQueen fashion label’s Creative Director is honoring the designer by continuing to show and design beautiful clothing as can be seen in these pictures of the Cruise 2011 collection. The collection flawlessly emulates the classic mood of Alexander McQueen’s previous collections.

The Cruise 2011 collection is a combination of classic, structured lines and understated patterns on fabrics that range from metallic to chiffon to what looks like a heavy velvet that come together to create impeccable style. To say the Creative Director of the Alexander McQueen fashion label had big shoes to fill would be an understatement, but as far as we can tell he is doing an amazing job.

The lining is McQueen’s signature skull print and mixes high-end fashion with street style and the studio artist touch. The sneakers are available now in a navy version and a tan version at the designer’s website.

Alexander McQueen lets his painterly side emerge in his Spring 2010 collection, which he debuted at Milan Fashion Week. He applies Pollock-like splashes of paint and handprints to relaxed dress shirts and pants and dressed down the suits with elastic handcuffs for a new silhouette. Color is used sporadically from a neutral suit with bright blue piping to quilt-like kaleidoscopic patterns. His collection combines the ordinary suit with the painter’s hand for a line that clashes passion with formality, and is inspired by artist’s total submergence in his work.
