From June 27th to July 25th, French artist Space Invader will have a solo exhibition called “Top Io” at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York. Invader’s medium of choice is especially unique as he uses Rubik’s Cube’s to create his compositions. The movement is coined Rubikcubism and the results are brightly colored pixilated images that range from pop culture icons (the phantom from Pac-Man) to Baroque masterpieces (Jean Auguste Dominique Ingre’s La Grande Odalisque). His most recent work, which will be included in the exhibition, are album covers that include The Beatles’ Abbey Road and The Clash’s London Calling.
