House Bierings, designed by Rocha Tombal Architecten, was derived from the municipal urban plan in Utrecht, The Netherlands. What makes this home unique are the sculptural “eyes” that manifest from the walls to view various angles of the countryside landscape that surround it. The windows not only provide varied light experiences, but also give direct contact with the garden outside. The house avoids visual contact with adjacent houses to give a more private feel and intimate connection with the landscape. The “heart of the house” is the kitchen, while the living room takes in place at the back, a quiet attic space with a large opening that shows views of the encompassing greenery.
