Blkmarket Membership in conjunction with New York City’s Love nightclub presented, Minus DJ’s Richie Hawtin, Ambivalent and Barem. Friday, June 27th Hawtin served up a solo extended set and played 4-hours straight. Headlining the night, Hawtin combined many different elements of electronic music by blending minimal with hard bass thumping European techno. Hawtin played some new tracks that we followed using Hawtin’s Twitter DJ Application, which automatically posted the current track being projected through the speakers.
Some of our favorites throughout the night were Livio and Roby Vs George G – Bau Bau, Sebrok – Airspeed, Reset Reboot – Pignose and Gradient highly recommended track Jacob Hilden – Glamouflage. The crowed was very responsive with over 700 people attending throughout the night.
The following day June 28th, young Minus DJ Barem hit the decks with his very solemn opening set. Barem kept the crowed moving by playing some of the latest tracks from his music library. He was just as serious as his music and did a great job opening up the night. Amibvalent followed up Barem’s set by playing tracks that defined minimal techno music. His raw set included many tracks from the Minus catalog, and songs Ambivalent created just for this special occasion. Around 2:00 am, Hawtin got into the DJ booth as fans shouted his name and waited for him to drop the first record. His set was very similar to the night before, but was still very impressive to say the least. Make sure you catch Richie Hawtin at Electric Zoo in September.
